Meyler | 'If Kane doesn't play on Sunday, he's 100% gone'

Harry Kane will once again be absent for Spurs this Thursday as his standoff with the club over his future rumbles on.

And David Meyler believes if Kane's absence from the team extends to a third game this weekend, there may be no way back for either party.

Kane missed Sunday's opening day win against Man City, and will also sit out tomorrow's Europa Conference League qualifier with Pacos de Ferreira, as he tries for force through a move to the Premier League champions.

Kane is reportedly angry with the club whom he believes reneged on a "gentleman's agreement" to sell him this summer, with Spurs believed to be holding out for £150m for anybody to take his signature.

Speaking on this evening's Football Show on OTB, former Republic of Ireland captain David Meyler says the player may need to risk his standing with the Spurs fans if he really wants to force through the move.

"If I was Harry Kane, I would, I'd hand in a transfer request," Meyler says.

Meyler went on to add that should Kane once again be out of action for Spurs this weekend, he can't see a way back for the club's record scorer, adding that they won't be able to hide behind an excuse of match-fitness.

"If he's not available for the Premier League game at the weekend he's gone. He's gone, 100 percent in my book.

"Even though I know they have the Europa Conference League qualifier, he'll still train a full week leading into that game, and he'll have trained last week. These are top professionals these days. Even though he's had his three or four weeks off he wouldn't have become too unfit that he wouldn't pick it straight back up."

However, Meyler says Kane is playing a risky game in taking on Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, who has a reputation as one of the toughest negotiators in the game.

"Levy knows what he's doing, he'll get every single penny for Kane, he won't sell for anything less than they think he's worth. Even in that interview with Gary Neville, Kane tried to set his own price, that if Daniel was offered 100 million he'd take it. He's trying to set his own price, which is crazy.

"I think you're taking on the wrong person. The Kanes taking on Daniel Levy is a bad decision. There's been a lot of things that have really raised my eyebrow. The interview he did with Gary Neville on The Overlap, like who sanctioned this? Nobody at the club would have allowed that to happen. I know it's Harry Kane, I know he's England captain, I get all that, but the fact that he's there talking about his future and that he's at a crossroads, there's just been a lot of stuff that he's done that makes me think more and more that he definitely wants out.

"He's trying to take on Levy, there's only going to be one winner. Alex Ferguson said if he ever needed someone for a negotiation he'd ask Levy. He's a master at what he does."
