"We know everything, we see everything" | Vera Pauw on working remotely

Ireland women's boss Vera Pauw says she doesn't need to live in Ireland to know what talent is in our league.

Speaking on The COYGIG Pod, Vera Pauw said that she has enough information on the players within the WNL to make a judgement on their ability.

Pauw has been in charge of the Republic of Ireland since 2019, but the Dutch coach doesn't live in the country.

Despite this, she believes that between her watching the league on streams and her assistant Tom Elmes attending games, they are able to gather enough information on the players available for selection.

"I see every game on the stream, because we have access to all of them", Pauw said.

"Tom Elmes, the assistant, he is going to as many games as he can. When I'm in Ireland, I'm always visiting games."

"We do not feel that we don't have enough information because we know everything and we see everything."

While Pauw would be known for her desire for control, she doesn't feel that she misses out on anything by monitoring players via stream. She claims that it is actually more difficult to monitor those playing abroad than those in Ireland.

"I want an assistant who knows every player, who knows every club and has the task to keep an eye on those moments"

"When I'm in Ireland, I try to press in everything I can from the early morning, to late at night."

"I get more of a feeling that I miss the connection with the players abroad. They're spread out. They're in England, in Germany and in USA, that is the biggest challenge."

Ireland face a long winter until their next big game when they face Sweden in the World Cup Qualifiers next April.

The Girls in Green go into the game with the international giants second in Group A on seven points, one point ahead of Finland.
