WATCH: Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher in heated argument over Cristiano Ronaldo

Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher got into it over Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo today.

Manchester United drew 1-1 with Chelsea on Sunday. Cristiano Ronaldo started the game on the bench.

Jadon Sancho scored the opening goal after a mistake from Jorginho.

The Italian midfielder scored the penalty that levelled the game. With Ronaldo not making the starting lineup, Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher debated his role at the club after the game. Keane, a former Manchester United player, didn't believe United signed Ronaldo to win the league this season.

Carragher disagreed.

Keane opened the argument by interrupting David Jones question to Carragher. Carragher hesitated when he was asked if it was a mistake signing Ronaldo.

"Ronaldo was never going to get Man United back winning league titles," Keane said.

"What was the point in signing him then?" Carragher retorted.

The intensity of the debate, and the pitch of Carragher's voice, immediately shot up from there. Keane suggested the value of Ronaldo would be his ability to take the team an extra round in the Champions League. He also said Ronaldo could have been a key piece in United winning an FA Cup.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer infamously left Manchester United without winning a trophy. If Ronaldo wins the FA Cup with his team, it won't be much use to Solskjaer now.

This is another in the long line of arguments over his value. It's only going to continue moving forward, especially now that it appears the new manager is willing to drop the Portuguese superstar. Manchester United's starting team today was officially selected by Michael Carrick, but Gary Neville suggests it was actually made by the new manager.

If Ralf Rangnick keeps Ronaldo as a substitute moving forward, we can expect to see even more intense arguments...probably from Ronaldo himself.
