Update: Brid Stack set to make full recovery after practice match collision in Australia

Brid Stack is set to make a full recovery having been hospitalised following a collision in an AFL Women's practice match in Australia.

The former Cork footballer is playing with the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the AFLW, where Mayo's Cora Staunton is a teammate.

Stack was taken to hospital after a collision occurred late in their game against the Adelaide Crows in Norwood Oval overnight.

The game ended prematurely close to the conclusion of the fourth quarter due to the injury, and the 34-year-old was taken to hospital via an ambulance.

In a tweet posted on their Twitter account, the Greater Western Sydney Giants said:

"Unfortunately Irish recruit Brid Stack has been taken to hospital following spinal precaution protocols after a collision in a tackle late in the fourth quarter. She’s in the best possible care and we will provide a full update when we have further information."

However, her native county have issued a further update on the seven-time All-Star, indicating that Stack will make' a full recovery'.

Having retired from Cork duty in 2019 after collecting 11 All-Ireland medals, Stack linked up with the Australian outfit before Christmas.
