Super Bowl 23: "That was brutal"

A set of players take to the field and in the end the Patriots win!

To paraphrase Gary Lineker about Germany's footballers, the same notion can often we placed on New England.

And it's exactly what happened on Sunday night in Atlanta as LA Rams fell short in the Super Bowl.

It's also a sixth Super Bowl ring for the Patriots and their constant duo: Quarter-back Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick.

To look back on a low-scoring Super Bowl LIII, The Ringer's John Gonzalez joined us.

"That was brutal. The game was brutal, the outcome was brutal, the Half-Time Show was brutal," he said first off.

"Awful watch"

On the factors that led to low scoring, Gonzalez picked out a couple of things. With time to prepare, Belichick was able to come up with a game-plan to disrupt the Rams' offence. And he also described the Rams defence as "under-rated".

"While the defences were great, it made for an awful watch," he concluded.

On the battle of the coaches that Gonzalez previewed for us last week, he said that McVay had been "out-coached" to a degree by the vastly more experienced Belichick. And he also puts the Patriots as among the favourites for next year's Super Bowl.

Another issue we touched on was the ban Patriots and Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman served at the start of the season.

It was for recording a positive drug test and we got Gonzalez's take on how that has been viewed Stateside. And of course Tony Romo's eye-catching analysis also got a mention.

Gonzalez also touched on the other highlight (or lowlight): The Half-Time Show headlined by Maroon 5. That did get a mention on the Newsround and Adam Levine's antics didn't go down well:
