WATCH: Rodgers laments injuries as Leicester drop points at Burnley

Leicester City were left to think 'what might have been' as they dropped two more points in the race for Champions League football.

Brendan Rodgers was left to lament his lengthy injury list as the Foxes drew 1-1 away to Burnley.

Sean Dyche's side took the lead inside 4-minutes at Turf Moor. Matěj Vydra pounced on some sloppy passing at the back between Daniel Amartey and Hamza Choudhury to fire past Kasper Schmeichel.

Choudury had a chance to make amends, getting on the end of a superb ball from the left from Timothy Castagne. But he volleyed into the ground and over the bar of Nick Pope.

Leicester did achieve parity eleven-minutes before the break. Wilfred Ndidi lofted a ball through the middle which was met on the volley by Kelechi Iheanacho to make it 1-1.

Schmeichel was called into action just before half-time, denying a goal-bound header from James Tarkowski.

It then required a flying left hand from the Dane to prevent Chris Wood's header from finding the net five-minutes after the restart.

A deflected Wood effort saw Schmeichel forced into a low save to his right shortly afterwards.

But the Dane was left flat-footed as Ashley Westwood's volley cracked his right-hand upright as Burnley continued to press for a winner.

At the other end, Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemens also tested the integrity of the Turf Moor fixtures, with a low left-footed effort coming back off the post.

"When you play Burnley over the course of the season, and take four points, with where we are with the squad, we are pleased," Rodgers said after the game.

"It was an awful start in the game, which tests your spirit, but we showed good moments in response and scored a very good goal.

“We started both halves not so well, but we looked a real threat and we were unfortunate not to have won the game, hitting the post late on. We take the point and move on.”

Rodgers was full of praise for his keeper, saying, “I said that afterwards in the changing room, [Kasper’s] constantly there.

“He’s been brilliant in my time here, and when it looks like it’s going to be a goal, he has the concentration and desire to stop the ball going into the net.

“He always produces for us, and was outstanding today when he had to be. He’s one of the top keepers at this level.”
