Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley in frame for MK Dons job

Stephen Bradley is reportedly in contention for the vacant manager's job at MK Dons.

The League One side begin their season on Saturday without a manager after Russell Martin decided to leave for Swansea City.

Bradley has been at the helm of Shamrock Rovers for just over five years, leading them to an FAI Cup win in 2019 and last year's SSE Airtricity Premier Division title.

Thursday's 1-0 win over Albanian champions Teuta has the Hoops 90-minutes away from a place in the playoff round of the UEFA Conference League.

The Dons are already home to former Bohemians defender Warren O'Hora, while Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott has joined on loan from Tottenham.

Bradley sits below the likes of Jody Morris, temporary manager Dean Lewington and John Terry in the betting to succeed Martin in the Stadium MK hotseat.

Indeed, Lewington will be in charge for Saturday's trip to Bolton.

Despite his lack of favour with the bookies, the Irish Independent report that Bradley is a genuine contender for the Dons job.

The 36-year old did not answer questions about the vacancy after the Teuta win in Tallaght, which came about via an injury time goal from 17-year old Aidomo Emakhu.

Despite the late breakthrough, Bradley felt Rovers were worth their first leg advantage.

"Teuta came with a very defensive plan and they thought they would get out with a 0-0 but we kept going and got what we deserved," he said.

“They were very good at the dark arts and tried to slow the game down but I thought the referee was very good and refused to buy into it.

“In the second-half, we had to increase the tempo and we knew we could tire them out as they couldn’t keep filling those gaps for 90 minutes."

Natalya Coyle left to rue luck of the draw after felling out of medal contention
