David Moyes and West Ham's hopes of finishing in the Premier League's top four were dealt a massive blow on Sunday evening.
They were beaten 1-0 by Everton at the London Stadium thanks to a first-half goal from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The result means the Hammers stay fifth in the table but are five points from fourth-placed Leicester City.
Speaking to Sky Sports at full-time, Moyes didn't fault his side, saying he felt they were unlucky to come away from the game with nothing.
"We just lacked a bit of quality in the final third. I thought we kept the ball well, our football was good enough.
"We made one really bad decision for the goal but apart from that I thought we played well.
"I thought there was a lot of good things we done but we just never had anything drop for us in the box today.
"In other games it has done, today we couldn't get that and the one or two half opportunities we had just didn't go for us.
"Overall, it was a game which didn't have a lot of chances but we kept the ball well, played some decent enough football, which we're trying to improve on but we just couldn't create chances.
"I don't think we deserved to lose today, that's for sure, but we have done."

Although West Ham can mathematically still qualify for the Champions League; this now looks highly unlikely.
Liverpool are just a point behind them but have a game in hand and the Hammers' final three fixtures are against Brighton, West Brom and Southampton.
It's been an incredible season for Moyes and his side, especially considering they finished 16th last year, just five points from the relegation zone.
Moyes feels his side belongs at the top end of the table and the loss is difficult to take.
"Sometimes when you're shooting for the stars, you forget about the stuff that you've done before.
"We've been shooting for the stars and we'll continue to try for that and if we don't quite make it then hopefully whatever we get next we'll look at as a good result.
"The players have been terrific. They've not overachieved, in my eyes. They might have overachieved in other people's eyes because I expect them to win, I expected them to win today.
"I think the biggest compliment I can give them is they've been really competitive in every game, we've given it a go and we'll try and do that in the remaining three games as well.
"I am feeling disappointed today because I wanted to go for the big one if we could."
