Manchester City owners CFG add a tenth club to collection

The City Football Group (CFG), which owns Premier League club Manchester City, has added French Ligue 2 club Troyes AC to its large portfolio.

The Abu Dhabi based company announced on Thursday that they have become majority shareholders in Troyes after acquiring the stake from previous owner Daniel Masoni.

The club, which was fourth in the league before last season was abandoned over the coronavirus pandemic, becomes the fourth European club to be added to the company's portfolio after City, Girona in Spain and Belgian outfit Lommel SK.

New York City, Melbourne City, Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan, Montevideo City Torque in Uruguay, Sichuan Jiuniu in China and Mumbai City in India make up the ten clubs.

"We have had an interest in French football for some time and have long admired ESTAC (Troyes), so we are delighted to have completed the acquisition of our 10th club and have a permanent presence in France," said  CFG chief executive, Ferran Soriano (right in main photo with City chairman and CFG founder Khaldoon Al Mubarak).

"At City Football Group, our objective remains to play beautiful football, identify and develop grassroots talent and have a permanent presence in the world's football centres.

"There is no doubt that France is one of the top football countries in the world and we are proud to be part of that community."
