Loans ruled out for Idah and Parrott on deadline day

Neither Adam Idah nor Troy Parrott will have new clubs when the transfer window closes - that's according to each of the young strikers' club managers.

Norwich boss Daniel Farke was adamant that his FA Cup 3rd round hat-trick hero Idah would not be allowed depart Carrow Road on loan before 11pm.

Since that three-goal salvo at Preston, Idah started in Norwich's 4-0 defeat away to Manchester United, but hasn't been involved since both Teemu Pukki and Josip Drmic found their ways back to fitness.

Despite his lack of game time since that Old Trafford humbling, Farke ruled out Idah begin afforded game time elsewhere, "Adam Idah is definitely for us an important player, and we just have three strikers, so no chance for him to go."

Norwich are rock bottom of the Premier League ahead of Saturday's trip to Newcastle. Speaking ahead of that game, Farke expanded on his reasons for Idah staying, "We're working already with one of the smallest numbers - in terms of a pretty small and tight group - in Premier League level.

"If a player is not happy because of his game time or whatever, yeah of course the door is always open - we speak about this - but no-one has knocked on my door in the last days, also I can say no-one has knocked on Stuart's [Webber - sporting director] door so for that I don't expect that something will happen.

"If there is an offer or whatever then we are respectful, we listen to each and every offer, but I don't expect there will be something."

Parrott remains on perch

While stopping short of being as definitive as his Norwich counterpart, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho was at least unwilling to let Troy Parrott leave on loan.

The 17-year old striker has found game time ever more difficult to come by than Idah, even with Mourinho's constant bleating about a lack of strikers with Harry Kane's injury.

Spurs welcome Manchester City to the new White Hart Lane on Sunday, and while Mourinho remains hopeful of a striking arrival it seems Parrott will stay in North London.

The former Manchester United and Porto manager was asked about possible loan deals for Parrott and midfielder Oliver Skipp, "I don't think so. Again until the end of the market, sometimes things can change quick. But I don't think so."

Even if he can't get a striker in before the window closes, Mourinho wasn't so keen on the kind of short-term fix that an Olivier Giroud may have presented, "Again we don't want a striker to just help us now, to be useful for us.

"We want a striker to be good for our future, possible to play with Harry Kane together in the future.

"And with the difficulties of the market, it was very, very difficult to find [one]."

Mourinho did concede that the City game may see the debut of his €30million signing from PSV, Steven Bergwijn.
