Leanne Kiernan ruled out as Pauw adds three players to Ireland squad

The Republic of Ireland have been hit with three injuries ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifiers this week.

In-form Liverpool attacker Leanne Kiernan is out, as are Ellen Molloy of Wexford Youths and Glasgow City's Claire Walsh.

Molloy starred as recently as yesterday for Youths as they claimed the Women's FAI Cup with a final win over Shelbourne.

Among those called into the squad is 16-year-old Jessie Stapleton.

The Shelbourne defender is part of the squad for the first time, but has participated in home-based training sessions in the past.

Celtic's Isibeal Atkinson and Emily Whelan of Birmingham City have also been drafted in.

Ireland train this afternoon (Monday) ahead of two home World Cup qualifiers, where they will look to build on last month's win over Finland.

They take on Slovakia on Thursday before a clash with Georgia on Tuesday.

Both games will take place at Tallaght Stadium.
