Laois withdraw their camogie team from 2020 competitions

Laois won't be fielding an adult camogie team in 2020.

The O'Moore's county board have announced that they've withdrawn from the upcoming National League, Leinster and All-Ireland Intermediate Championships.

They say the decision has been made as they weren't in a position to field a team due to the "unavailability of players" and praised manager Kieran Delaney for his "time, commitment and professionalism".

Former All-Ireland Club winning hurler Delaney had only been appointed to the role in November after a spell coaching Abbeyleix last year.

“Following an Executive Meeting held on Monday January 6 2020 it is with great regret that Laois Camogie are not in a position to field an Intermediate Team for the 2020 competitions due to unavailability of players," read a statement on Laois Camogie's facebook page.

“Laois Camogie would sincerely like to thank Kieran Delaney and his management team for their time, commitment and professionalism to date.

“Laois Camogie would also like to acknowledge the players who did commit but unfortunately there wasn’t enough to form a panel.”

Laois were crowned All-Ireland Premier Junior champions in 2015 and narrowly missed out on a place in the Intermediate semis last summer.

They had also maintained their status in Division Two of the League and reached the semi-finals of the Leinster senior championship.
