Kenny Cunningham lauds Hendrick and addresses tennis ball protest

Kenny Cunningham believes Jeff Hendrick's showing against Georgia was as close to a "complete performance" as he has delivered for Ireland.

The Burnley player formed part of a midfield triumvirate and acquitted himself well.

It followed a winning goal in the victory over Gibraltar in the first Euro 2020 qualifier on Saturday.

Kenny and Kevin Kilbane joined us on Off The Ball to review the Georgia game and Hendrick stood out.

"Jeff got himself into some great positions," said Kenny.

"This is his best position"

"And it was a real almost complete performance from Jeff. This is Jeff's best position, so we need to put this to bed. Jeff's played I don't know how many different midfield positions.

"He's played right of a four, he's played right of a diamond and he's played as a No 10 which I don't think suited him.

"He's even played as a deep-lying midfield player. But for me, this is his best position - always has been. Central midfield position in an advanced position to go and break and join in as much as possible."

Kenny and Kevin also addressed the tennis ball fan protest that took place in the 33rd minute.

"I didn't like anything with the disruption of the game," said Kenny.

"That said, I think the fans have an entitlement to give an opinion. I didn't like the fact flags were taken off fans over the last couple of years. I think that was an absolute disgrace. Flags should be allowed as long as those messages aren't too crude or vulgar.

"But for me, to disrupt the game, I didn't like it. I hope it doesn't happen again."
