Kellie Harrington and Aoife O'Rourke both qualify for Tokyo Olympics

Kellie Harrington is going to the Tokyo Olympics this summer.

The 2018 world lightweight champion received the nod from all the judges in her qualifier quarter-final against Maiva Hamadouche in Paris on Saturday evening.

Hamadouche, who is the reigning IBF super featherweight world champion, was the hometown favourite.

It was a daunting task for Harrington, with her opponent holding a 22-1 record in her professional career.

The inner-city native secured a stunning unanimous victory though.

All five judges scored the fight in the 31-year-old's favour: 29-26, 29-28, 29-27, 29-28, 29-28.

As well as Harrington, Roscommon's Aoife O’Rourke also booked her place on the plane on Saturday evening.

She beat Polish featherweight Ela Wojcik on a unanimous decision in Paris.

Aidan Walsh, Michaela Walsh, and Emmett Brennan are all also just one fight away from securing their places at the Games.

Michaela Walsh may actually qualify with her standing in the world rankings, meaning her next bout in Paris is not necessarily a must-win.
