The IRFU have issued an apology to the Wales women's team, after their players had no hot water in their showers, following today's Guinness Six Nations meeting at Energia Park in Donnybrook.

Ireland were 31-12 winners against their Welsh counterparts this afternoon, with the players feeling the brunt of Storm Ciara, particularly in the second half, as torrential wind and rain landed on Dublin 4.

As well as suffering the pain of defeat, Wales outhalf Robyn Wilkins revealed she and her teammates had no hot water to shower after the game.

"We're all cold, it doesn't help that we've got cold showers, unfortunately.

"But we're a tight-knit bunch, this will make us stronger. We'll come together and we go again. We've got two weeks now to kick in and train hard for that French game."

ITV reporter Beth Fisher has since confirmed that the Welsh players were provided with hot showers, while the IRFU issued a statement on Twtter, apologising to the Welsh team for the incident.

"The IRFU have apologised to the Welsh Rugby Union for an issue with the water heater in their changing room today. Every effort was made to resolve the problem & extra amenities were provided. The IRFU would like to thank the team for their understanding & apologise again."

On the pitch, Ireland defied the weather, scoring five tries to make it two wins out of two.

Cliodhna Moloney and teenager Beibhnn Parsons both scored for the second week running, while Lauren Delaney and Linda Djougang also crossed the line, with a penalty try rounding the game off.

Ireland sit top of the table with 9 points from a possible 10, with England and Scotland's meeting postponed.
