Jamie McGrath has been heavily linked with a potential move to Aberdeen.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder is out of contract with his current club St. Mirren at the end of May.

McGrath is able to open discussions with suitors during the January window and, according to the Daily Record, the former Dundalk man has attracted the interest of Aberdeen.

The 25-year old scored 10 goals for St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership last season, and has scored three in all competitions this term for the Buddies.

McGrath could sign a pre-contract agreement with Aberdeen this month, but the Athboy native has also been offered a new deal at St. Mirren which would see him become the highest-paid player in the club's history.

There have also been links to clubs in England, with McGrath telling the Irish Independent last month, "“I want to play at the highest level I can, wherever that is, and fingers crossed I can get there.

"There are a few bits and pieces around, there was a lot of interest in the summer and between one thing and another it didn’t work out.

"I am happy where I am, I have six months left on my contract so we’ll see what happens in January, the club have put a nice offer before me.

"I am just grateful to be in the position I am in, and I can’t take my eye off the ball.”

Staying in Scotland, Celtic have wrapped up a deal to sign Riley McGee.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has reportedly taken a hands-on approach in signing his fellow Australian from Charlotte FC.

McGee would be Celtic's fifth signing of the window following Johnny Kenny from Sligo Rovers, Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi.
