"Hopefully we will be given time" - Moyes wants to stay at West Ham

David Moyes is hoping he'll be afforded time at West Ham after watching his side draw 1-1 at Manchester United to secure their Premier League survival.

The Scottish coach left his position with the Hammers are helping to keep them up in 2018 but he feels the situation is different this time around.

"I'm under contract anyway, last time I only had a short term deal," Moyes explained after the game at Old Trafford. "I can see shoots of improvement. The owners can see it too and they understand where we would like to go to.

"We are moving in the right direction already. We have good young players, hopefully we will be given time."

West Ham took the lead through a Michail Antonio goal from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time with Mason Greenwood equalising for the hosts in the second-half.

"I thought United were good, but we were a bit timid in the opening period," the Hammers boss added. "We grew into the game and got better. The mid-period after United scored was our best period.

"I think if you've not got the quality then you'll struggle. I think the biggest thing is we had to physically compete, athletically.

"There were good things today, there have been not so good periods but the players, since lockdown, have been very good."
