A new book on the journey of Seán Cox, written by his wife Martina, is to be published this October, with the foreword penned by Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp.
Cox suffered a traumatic brain injury on April 24th, 2018 when attending a Champions League game involving his beloved Liverpool at Anfield.
The unprovoked attack left him struggling with his speech, and it is unlikely the Meath man will walk again.
In the foreword for the book, Klopp speaks about the inspiration he and his players have taken from Seán's strength shown since the incident.
"I often get asked about leadership in football but in “real life” I can think of no greater example of what a leader is than Seán’s wife, Martina. I have followed what she has done for her husband and her family and it has humbled me."
Martina, Seán's wife, says her and her family's love for Seán has kept them going through the darkest of times.

"The last two years have been unimaginably difficult but our love for Seán and determination that he gets the best care possible has kept us going. It has been an uphill battle but he is making progress every day.
"The book emphasises how, with the help of family, community, Liverpool and tens of thousands of people across the world who were touched by Seán’s story, we have achieved what was thought to be impossible and we are so grateful for that."
Newstalk's Susan Keogh, who wrote the book with Martina, says she has been blown away by her courage throughout the process.
"It’s been the ultimate privilege to work with Martina over the past six months on this book. Through laughter and tears, we kept each other company during Ireland’s Covid 19 lockdown.
"I have been completely blown away by Martina’s strength and her commitment, dedication and love for Sean. As the whole country learns to readjust to a ‘new normal’ Martina and Sean’s story offers a valuable lesson about how, if you try hard enough, you can turn heartbreak into hope."
With Hope in Your Heart was acquired for Gill Books by Commissioning Editor Sarah Liddy who said this was a story that simply had to be told.
"This is a remarkable story of turning heartbreak into hope. Readers will be in awe of Martina’s strength and determination to get the best care for her husband in the face of incredible challenges. At its heart this is a love story. The kind of love that conquers all."
With Hope in Your Heart will be published by Gill Books on Friday, 23 October 2020, priced at €16.99. You can pre-order the book from Eason here.
