Christian Eriksen discharged from hospital as recovery continues

Christian Eriksen has been discharged from hospital as the 29-year-old continues to recover from his cardiac arrest.

The Danish FA (DBU) announced the positive news on Twitter on Friday evening.

It was revealed yesterday that the Denmark playmaker would be fitted with a heart starting device following his collapse last Saturday in Copenhagen.

The statement in full via Twitter read;

"Christian Eriksen has been through a successful operation and was today discharged from Rigshospitalet.

"Today he also visited the national tea in Helsingor - and from there he will go home and spend time with his family."

It then went on to include a greeting from the player;

"Thank you for the massive number of greetings - it has been incredible to see and feel.

"The operation went well, and I am doing well under the circumstances.

"It was really great to see the guys again after the fantastic game they played last night.

"No need to say that I will be cheering on them on Monday against Russia."

Denmark played their first game since the distressing incident at the Parken Stadium on Thursday evening, losing 2-1 to Belgium.

The ball was kicked out of play in the 10th minute, as Eriksen wears number 10, so players from both sides could join the crowd in an emotional round of applause.
