Camogie Association holding talks with Laois camogie in bid to keep them in 2020 competitions

The Camogie Association say they're in contact with both Laois County Board and player representatives in a bid to find a solution to keep an adult team from the O'Moore County in this year's national and provincial competitions.

Laois announced yesterday that they'd be withdrawing from the 2020 National League and Leinster and All-Ireland Championships due to "unavailability of players".

“In relation to the withdrawal by Laois Camogie of their Adult Intercounty team from National and Provincial competitions in 2020, the Camogie Association wishes to confirm that it is in contact with the Laois Camogie Board as well as player representatives to work towards a solution that will maintain the participation of Laois Camogie in this year’s competitions," a Camogie Assocation spokesperson has told Off The Ball.

“We thank all parties involved for their co-operation so far and we hope for a satisfactory outcome that will ensure the continued development of Camogie within the county at Adult Intercounty level.”

It's understood that 20 players attended training last weekend and that they weren't consulted about the team being pulled out of competitions this year.

The O'Moores were crowned All-Ireland Minor B champions last summer and their adult team narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-finals of the All-Ireland Intermediate Championship.

They had been due to compete in Division Two of the National League this Spring and as well as at senior level in Leinster.
