Ben Te'o completes switch back to rugby league

Former Leinster centre Ben Te'o has returned to rugby league and signed for NRL side the Brisbane Broncos, where he previously enjoyed a three-year stint.

The 33-year-old lined out for the Broncos between 2009 and 2012 prior to his decision to move to rugby union in 2014.

Teo'o played over 50 times for Leinster during his two seasons in Leinster and was part of the Blues team which lost to Connacht in 2016 Guinness PRO12 final in Edinburgh.

The New Zealand-native had been considering playing for Ireland at international level but instead moved to Worcester and linked with Eddie Jones' England in 2016, which helped him earn a spot on the Lions squad which toured New Zealand in the summer of 2017.

He started the first Test against home nation and then missed out on a place in England's squad for the 2019 Rugby World Cup after a row with Mike Browne and their pre-tournament training camp.

Teo'o had short stints at Toulon and the Sunwolves in the last year but he says he's now committing to play league again:

"It’s crazy how things work out but I’m just excited to get back playing rugby league and rip in with the boys and really work hard.

"Brisbane is home to me and the Broncos have always looked after me and I feel welcome here – this is the perfect place to let me play. The club had a spot open and need some boys and I’m ready to come and help out and play my role for the Broncos."
