Arteta 'extremely pleased' with Arsenal support

Mikel Arteta has hailed the impact of the club's supporters as Arsenal continue on a good run of form.

The Gunners go into tomorrow evening's Carabao Cup meeting with Leeds off the back of improved league performances.

They're unbeaten since the end of August and scored a useful 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Friday.

While Arsenal remain in a modest position in 10th, they are just three points off fourth spot.

"The way we started, the way we played, the confidence we showed, the rhythm and efficiency as well in every action that we have," Arteta responded when asked what pleased him most in Friday's display.

He then went on to address the supporters' impact at the Emirates.

"I was extremely pleased with that [supporters getting behind the team] because I can now see that our supporters start to feel like they identify with what the team projects, that is very pleasing.

"We can generate every single time we play here it is very powerful for us and very difficult for the opponent.

"That builds confidence in the boys, it's incredible that we are the youngest team in this league and many experiences we are going through they have never experienced them before so the more positive they are the more confidence they are going to build."

Arteta also referenced the improved performances from Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

He was among the goalscorers on Friday and has hit the net four times in the league so far this season.

It's the work besides his goals, however, that has caught the manager's eye.

"I have never seen Auba transmitting on the pitch what he is transmitting now.

"Apart from the goals, the celebrations when they put the ball is in the net, do you see the way he runs, the purpose when he is going to press the ball, when he's taking it, his movement, his link, how he is living the game?

"I prefer this Auba.

"For me, it is a click. It's a combination of realising that his role has to go well behind that, and while he was good or very good a year, or two or three years ago, now in his role in this team in this club is not enough, he had to take a step forward."
