Aidan O'Shea: 'Mayo are not the finished article yet'

Mayo's Aidan O'Shea says they are "no means the finished article" following their win against Donegal in Castlebar - securing their place in the All-Ireland semi-final.

James Horan's men will appear in the last-four for the eighth time in nine years, and the sixth with 48-year-old at the helm, but the first in this current spell in charge.

They went into the final Super 8s game knowing only a win would secure them a place in the semi-finals, and they ran out winners by 1-14 to 1-10.

Speaking after the game, Aidan O'Shea said, "we've good players, we've had a lot of players down all year. You know, Tom Parsons back in the dressing room today, Mattie back in the dressing room today, Paddy back.

"All year we've had three or four go down and again today Jason Doherty gone down and hopefully he's okay - it looked like a serious injury. And there's that kind of mentality in the group, you know we've had big players go down and other fellows stepped up and that's testament to the squad and what we did through the league and in the winter.

"We're by no means the finished article and we know that. We've blooded 38 players from league to championship and that's very impressive. I think you're seeing the fruits of it through the championship and to be honest, we back ourselves anytime we go out on the pitch."

They will now play in Croke Park on Saturday, August 10th in an All-Ireland semi-final against either Dublin or Tyrone - who play their final Super 8s game to find out who will top Group 2. However, manager James Horan is not worried about the quick turnaround. "We don't worry about that stuff, there's no point," he said. "We'll train probably once this week, and head to Dublin on Friday, whenever it is. Look forward to the game."
