WATCH: Doherty handball wounds Wolves Champions League hopes

Wolves' Champions League ambitions suffered a near fatal wound at the hand of their own Matt Doherty.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side were held to a 1-1 draw away to Burnley to leave them 3-points off the Premier League's top-4 with only two games remaining.

Six minutes after Doherty's second half introduction, Wolves finally broke the deadlock at Turf Moor.

A typically muscular run from Adama Traore saw him lay the ball off to Doherty who had a pop from distance.

Rather fortuitously, the ball cannoned off a Burnley defender and into the path of Raul Jiminez who rifled past Nick Pope.

Wolves looked to be heading for all three points, until injury time.

A Phil Bardsley cross saw Chris Wood attempt a bicycle kick in the Wolves box, but his marker Doherty saw the ball strike his hand as he rose with the Kiwi and tried to protect himself.

Intervention from VAR saw the penalty given; Wood converted and salvaged a point for Burnley that gives them still the slimmest mathematical chance of a Europa League spot.

Manchester City picked up their second victory of the week, following the quashing of their European ban by CAS.

David Silva again showed what will be missing from Eastlands next term.

With just 6-minutes on the clock, he curled a beautiful free-kick left footed beyond the reach of Aaron Ramsdale.

Seven-minutes before half-time he played in Gabriel Jesus, who jinked and weaved through a clutch of Bournemouth defenders before making it 2-0.

With an FA Cup semi-final, and a Champions League last-16 second leg still on their horizon, City lifted their foot from the pedal after the break.

And Bournemouth capitalised on that lapse in effort.

Just before the hour mark, Junior Stanislas worked brilliantly to open up a chance which curled towards the far post where Josh King tapped home.

Sadly for Eddie Howe's men, replays showed King was offside when Stanislas loosed his shot.

But Bournemouth did get rewarded for their efforts two minutes before the end, when Callum Wilson fed David Brooks to sweep home and make it 2-1.

Defeat leaves Bournemouth three-points from safety, but both Watford and West Ham above them still have games in hand.

Tottenham are just a point off the Europa League places following a 3-1 win at Newcastle.

Harry Kane scored twice after Heung Min Son had given Jose Mourinho's side an early lead.

Valentino Lozaro had restored parity - however briefly - for Newcastle early in the second half.
