Playing for Manchester United would be the right move for Jack Grealish, despite the team’s current poor form, according to Stephen Kelly.
The former Republic of Ireland international was speaking to OTB AM and rubbished the notion that a move to United would negatively impact Grealish’s development.
Kelly also believes that Grealish can play for any team in the Premier League.
Grealish on his way?
“It’s so weird the way we’re talking about Manchester United now is that any young potential player that’s decent is at risk going to Manchester United.
“It’s a crazy conversation to be having, isn’t it? How many years ago was it that every player would be biting your hand off [for the opportunity].
“People are trying to say, ‘Staying at Aston Villa or staying at Leicester is a better option than going to Manchester United. I still don’t think it’s a better option than going to Manchester United, realistically,” Kelly said.
While the former Tottenham player noted that the Red Devils are going through a bad patch, he felt their fortunes could quickly change.
'People try to say Aston Villa is ultimately a better option than going to Manchester United. I don't think so!" 😂

“It’s still one of the biggest clubs in the world. Arguably they’re not performing well but you would feel with their finances and what they have - it’s money power.
“Villa don’t have the potential to go and buy a load of players and win the league - Manchester United do,” Kelly commented.
Grealish has been in fantastic form for Villa in the last couple of years and is, without doubt, the club’s key player.
While the 24-year-old has developed nicely at the Birmingham-based club, Kelly felt that Grealish could play for any team in the Premier League.
"I trained at Aston Villa for eight months to a year when they got beaten in the play-off final.
"He is exceptional; an exceptional footballer. A real talent," said Kelly before noting that James Maddison has been more consistent for longer in the league.
"Grealish was out of this world - he is such a good footballer.
"He is an exceptional talent and he could play in any team in the Premier League."
