Tottenham-Newcastle suspended for medical situation in crowd

The Premier League game between Newcastle and Tottenham was suspended just before halftime as the players called for a defibrillator to be used on someone in the crowd.

Heung-Min Son was standing over a corner with five minutes left in the first half of Newcastle-Tottenham's Premier League game.

The Tottenham players in the box waved for the attention of the referee and pointed towards the stands where a fan appeared to have collapsed. Eric Dier could be seen motioning for a defibrillator to the bench, which was followed by a doctor sprinting across the field from the bench.

Both sets of players left the field while the fan received treatment.

Miguel Delaney has tweeted that the players will return to the field to resume the first half.

According to Sky Sports, the person who received treatment has been taken to a nearby hospital.

The fan has been stabilized.

Henry Winter has confirmed that it was Sergio Reguilon who first alerted the players and officials of the incident.

The players have resumed the game for the final seven minutes of the first half.
