"There are still a few players with Mourinho but it's a dwindling core"

If Jose Mourinho was expecting respite, Chelsea did not get any on Saturday when Liverpool defeated them 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

If reports are to be believed, some Blues players are seriously doubting their manager with the BBC presenter Garry Richardson reporting that a source told him that one player in particular would rather lose than win for Mourinho.

"Also it completely reminds us about what has been spelt out to us about the Real Madrid situation in that brilliant, insightful book [by] Diego Torres. Even the subtitle in Spanish was 'Prepare to Lose'. The squad had openly turned against him," said football writer Miguel Delaney of the situation on Off The Ball tonight.

"But the really concerning difference about that Real Madrid situation and this is at Real there was always a caveat that he was going into a squad of proven winners and he just rubbed it up the wrong way. Here, this is his squad. He's brought in most of the players. He got rid of all the ones he didn't want and yet despite that difference at Real, we're seeing the exact same situation."

Miguel also discussed a theory that has been put forward that Mourinho "isn't good with Millennials - this younger group of players who aren't necessarily used to the school of hard knocks".

He also explained how Didier Drogba was a crucial dressing room presence who helped create a sense of calm.

"From what was put to me, there are still a few players with him but it's a dwindling core and that core was named as Terry, Fabregas, Costa, Azpilicueta and Gary Cahill," Miguel said of what he has been told.
