"Martin just wants us to win games" - John O'Shea ahead of their European Championship qualifier double header

Ireland take on world champions Germany on Thursday night in the Aviva Stadium and ahead of their crunch double header, John O'Shea believes that preparation will be key.

"In training and in general play, the manager likes to let things flow a bit and wants to draw certain reactions from set pieces" he said live on tonight's show.

"Thankfully from the last two games we've given ourselves a good chance to qualify and although there might be some nerves, I think we've created the buzz that we wanted.

"When you look at the tough group that we had at the start of the qualifying campaign and the fact that we've given ourselves a shot at automatic qualification, it's created quite a buzz in the camp."

When it comes to the tactics and expectation placed on the players, O'Shea said that some of O'Neill's demands are actually quite straightforward.

"To try and win is ultimately what the manager is looking for" he said.

"We have to go out and try and win matches. It's a a case of being organised from our set pieces. That's what had us so annoyed in Glasgow when we lost to Scotland."

O'Shea was adamant, however, that he would be focused on the international side of things and not about goings on at his club, Sunderland.

"I'm restricted to the international stuff for now, that's what Im looking to focus on for now. These are tow massive games for us."
