Stan Collymore tears Joleon Lescott a new one on Social Media

Despite Villa's relegation being a 'weight off the shoulders', Joleon Lescott just can't seem to escape the headlines at the moment.

Following a shambolic season- with shambolic being a generous term- Aston Villa were finally relegated from the Premier League after defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford yesterday.

In the aftermath of the game, Lescott decided to look at the positives from the season such as......erm.....well....ok, there weren't really any.

Still, the Villa captain had a positive outlook going forward, saying that now relegation was "confirmed maybe it's a weight off the shoulders and we can give these fans what they deserve, some performances."

Eh, what now?

Stan Collymore, as always, took the liberty of expressing his full opinion and the former Liverpool player went on talkSPORT and tore Lescott asunder.

"I would love Joleon, or any other Villa player, to call me up in all seriousness. I would like any Villa player - particularly Joleon Lescott - to come on and first explain the tweet (of the car). But, today, this is a senior international footballer: 'Now confirmed, maybe it's a weight off the shoulders.'

"Why's it a weight off the shoulders, Joleon? It should hang on your shoulders in Dubai, in 'Marbz', with a gold bottle with the ace of spades on it in the summer when you and Gabby (Agboblahor) and Leandro (Bacuna) are all going to be laughing when your agents take you off to other football clubs.

"The Villa staff - it's a real weight on their shoulders. People who are getting made redundant, people who have been there for 20 years, who don't know where the next pay cheque might come from.

"You're a disgrace. You've hid behind players like (David) Silva and (Sergio) Aguero but when it mattered today with your hometown club - who you profess to support - you've helped them go down."

Harsh words indeed, something which Lescott din't take too kindly as he messaged the ex-England international offering to 'sort it out like men.'

Collymore did apologise for 'accidentaly' sharing the text however, clearing things up with a later tweet.

Game. Set. Match.
