The nominees for the RTÉ Sportsperson of the Year have been released.
The 12 nominees encompass a wide range of sports, including GAA, boxing, football and MMA
The nominations are:
Seamus Callanan played a pivotal role in leading Tipperary to All-Ireland victory this year.
Katie George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal thrived at the Paralympics, picking up gold and silver Paralympic Road cycling medals.
Eoghan Clifford earned a road cycling Gold and a track cycling bronze at his first Paralympic Games this year.
Brian Fenton captured a second All-Ireland title with Dublin this year, continuing his run of unbeaten games in a county jersey.
Carl Frampton became Ireland's second ever male boxer to have held World Titles in two different weight divisions.
Denise Gaule was part of the Kilkenny team who captured their first O'Duffy Cup in over two decades.
Jamie Heaslip has been nominated for the World Rugby Player of the year and also won the Try of the year from his score in the Six Nations game against Italy.
Daryl Horgan flourished for Dundalk as they achieved domestic success and are still in the Europa League group stages.
Conor McGregor made UFC history this year by becoming the first dual-weight champion. The UFC claim they stripped him of his featherweight belt, after the company's president Dana White said that fighters in the featherweight division were getting angry. McGregor has refuted those reports and insists that he still has the strap.
After suffering the heartbreak of finishing fourth at London 2012, Annalise Murphy claimed a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Rio.
Paul O'Donovan, along with his brother Gary, collected a silver medal at the Rio Games. He followed that up with a gold at the World Championships.
Bríd Stack was named the ladies footballer of the year for the first time in her senior career. She picked up hr 11th All-Ireland crown this year with Cork.
The winner will be announced on Saturday December 17th live on RTÉ One.
