WATCH | 'We'll get through this' | Seamus Coleman's plea to Irish people

In conjunction with a €20,000 donation for frontline workers in Ireland during the Covid-19 crisis, Seamus Coleman has released a special message to people in this time of great uncertainty.

One of many to support a GoFundMe campaign to provide food for frontline health workers as they continue to work tirelessly against the spread of coronavirus, Republic of Ireland captain Seamus Coleman has delivered a special message to the people of Ireland.

"I received a message earlier from Keith Andrews making me aware of a GoFundMe for 'Feed the Heroes'," explained Seamus Coleman in a video message. "[This campaign] is for all of our frontline staff who are being so brave at the moment helping all the sick people due to this horrible disease, Covid-19.

"It is a tough time for all of us at the moment, for all Irish people, for all people around the world, but speaking for Irish people that I know, we are a very proud nation.

"We stick together, we work hard for each other and though I know it is a tough time at the minute, we will get through this. Stay positive and keep fighting."

Although 'Feed Our Heroes' has generated tremendous support thus far, Seamus Coleman is urging the people of Ireland to do what they can in helping those who are risking everything.

"If anyone can make any donation toward the page, small or large, it would be great," he explained. "Just anything to feed our heroes who are putting themselves on the frontline to keep us as safe as possible.

"While I'm sending this message now I'd just like to make a point to say to the people of Ireland that they should listen to the guidelines, do what you can to get this virus away as quick as we possibly can.

"If that means staying indoors, something we don't like to do or want to do, it is a small price to pay. I want to speak to the younger generation particularly. Stay indoors, do what's right. I want us all to stick together at this time."

In a video you can watch above, Seamus Coleman thanked those who are risking everything for the people of Ireland and once again asked those watching who could to make a donation.
