Roberto de Matteo tells Jack Grealish to "grow up"

Aston Villa manager Roberto di Matteo has failed to confirm newspaper reports that Jack Grealish has been given a £50,000 fine for his off-field behaviour.

The former Republic of Ireland international, who now plays for the England Under-21s was alleged to have been involved in an all-night party in Birmingham at the weekend, hours after Aston Villa's draw away to Ipswich Town.

Speaking on Wednesday morning at an Aston Villa press conference, the manager said Grealish needs"to grow up very quickly".

"In general for the sake of any player they need to learn about what it takes to be an athlete."

Grealish has scored twice in the league this season, as Aston Villa returned to the English second-tier. The team currently lie in 18th place with only one win in eight games.

The 21-year-old made his debut for England's Under-21 team this summer and has already scored two goals for Gareth Southgate's team.

As recently as 2015, he was named as Ireland's Under-21 International Player of the Year
