Why Real Madrid's Club World Cup win is especially significant

Real Madrid will be heavy favourites to claim the Club World Cup final when they take on Argentina's San Lorenzo this Saturday.

But as Graham Hunter explained to us on Off The Ball, victory would be more significant than just another trophy for Real Madrid's Spanish contingent.

"Spain's Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos were based in Curitiba at the moment of their greatest humiliation during the World Cup; and it's in Curitiba, the club who's record they could take if they win on Saturday, become two World Champions and will equal with two more," said Graham, of Real's wins in a row record as they close in on Curitiba's all-time mark of 24.

Graham went on to discuss where this Real Madrid fit in the pantheon of great sides, particularly in the recent shadow of Pep's Barcelona, while he also chatted about the issues at the Catalan club in terms of depth with a transfer ban to contend with.
