RB Leipzig boss admits story linking him with Arsenal has "a lot of truth" to it

RB Leipzig manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has admitted that there is some truth to a story linking him with Arsenal.

The Austrian has guided the German club to the top of the Bundesliga in their first season in the top flight, although their ownership model means they are not a popular force in Germany.

Arsene Wenger's future as Arsenal manager is uncertain beyond this season, with the 67-year-old's current contract due to expire at the end of the season.

The Sun recently suggested that Hasenhuttl is a potential successor and that Arsenal would move to a head coach model with sporting director and move away from the manager model where one figure takes charge of most aspects of the first team squad.

Hasenhuttl has added fuel to the fire by saying that, "It was a well-researched story."

He also added: "There was a lot of truth to it.

"I have heard of worse fates than succeeding the longest-serving manager in England. It's not damaging my reputation, is it?"

But he did play down the immediacy of any move, saying: "I signed a three-year contract here in Leipzig and set myself the objective of developing this team further."

Wenger has been in charge of Arsenal since 1996, leading the club to three Premier League titles, six FA Cups and a Champions League final in 2006.
