Raul Jimenez signs new deal with Wolves

Raul Jimenez has extended his stay at Wolves, signing a new four-year contract that will keep him at Molineux until the summer of 2024.

The Mexican striker joined the club from Benfica in 2019, initially on a loan deal that was soon turned into a permanent stay.

Since arriving at Wolves, Jimenez has scored 32 league goals in 79 appearances.

Speaking to the club's media team, Jimenez expressed his delight at extending his future at the club.

"I'm delighted to be here and to be at this great club," he said.

"Since I was a little boy, I just wanted to play. I wanted to enjoy it, live it and that's what I am here for."

"They give me all the confidence and all the opportunity to be an important guy at the front, and that's what I was looking for when I arrived in Europe, and I am very happy to continue at this club."

"It didn't take much persuading! It was easy for me to say yes because since the beginning this was what I was looking for."

Since his arrival, Jimenez has become an important player for Nuno Esperito Santo, cementing his place in a front line that recently lost Diego Jota who moved to Liverpool in September.

Wolverhampton Wanderers' Raul Jimenez (centre) celebrates scoring his side's second goal of the game with his team mates during the Premier League match at Carrow Road, Norwich.

Jimenez and Jota had struck up an excellent partnership and the fact that Wolves have managed to keep one of last year's preferred strike partnership will be of real significance as they look to emulate last seasons strong performance.

Santo's men finished seventh in the Premier League.

Wolves also managed to enjoy an excellent campaign in the Europa League, during the last campaign, before they were knocked out by eventual champions Sevilla.

"The last two season we have given very good performances so I knew this club has something special," said Jimenez.

"I'm part of a big family here."

Jimenez won the club's Player of the Year award last year on the back of scoring 17 league goals.
