Premier League Round-Up: Man United and Liverpool among tonight's big winners

Man United 2 - 1 Stoke City

Manchester United have strengthened their grip on fourth place in the Barclays Premier League after a 2 - 1 win over Stoke at Old Trafford.

Goals from Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata saw United register their fourth consecutive victory, despite Stoke having a few late chances to snatch an equaliser after Stephen Nzonzi cancelled out Fellaini's opener.

Fellaini opened the scoring with a header from Ander Herrera's cross, before N'Zonzi found the net from outside the box.

But Mata's in-swinging free-kick found its way into the back of the net to give United victory, although David De Gea did safeguard the points with a fine late save.

Leicester 1 - 3 Liverpool

Liverpool were also able to string together consecutive wins after they came from behind to claim a 3-1 win over ten man Leicester.

An own-goal from Reds keeper Simon Mignolet put Leicester ahead after 22 minutes, but Liverpool fought-back with goals from Adam Lallana, Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson.

Mignolet's own goal came when Leonardo's shot deflected off the keeper, having come back off the post.

But Lallana converted a Rickie Lambert assist, before Gerrard capitalised on a poor Wes Morgan clearance and Henderson finished the game off with a third.

Morgan was sent off just after the hour mark for a foul on Lambert.

Elsewhere, it finished 1 - 1 between Burnley and Newcastle at Turf Moor as Papiss Cisse equalised a George Boyd opener.

Swansea were 2 - 0 winners over QPR thanks to second half goals from Ki Sung-yueng and Wayne Routledge.

Aston Villa eased their relegation fears as a Christian Benteke goal helped them see off Crystal Palace 1 - 0 on the Belgian's return from suspension.

West Ham are also just outside the Top Four after beating struggling West Brom 2 - 1 at the Hawthorns. Goals from James Tomkins and Kevin Nolan brought them a comeback win after Craig Dawson's opener for the Baggies.
