Paddy Mulligan picks out the signs of progress he's seeing at Klopp's Liverpool

Former Ireland defender Paddy Mulligan is seeing signs of progress at Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp's methods begin to take hold.

Speaking on the Rewind podcast as he reflected on the Reds' 3-1 Premier League win over Chelsea, Paddy also said that the tap-in goal that right-back Nathaniel Clyne scored against Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup in midweek would not have happened during Brendan Rodgers' time in charge of the club.

"It most certainly wouldn't have happened for the simple reason that Liverpool were playing with no pace whatsoever around the pitch under Rodgers. They got to the stage where everything was Man United-like - square and back, square and back, and Rodgers had lost his way," he said.

"Liverpool are not out of the woods yet, not by a long shot, but there were signs over the past few weeks under Klopp that they are working harder both with the ball and off the ball. That has made a huge difference. Coutinho scored two goals when he hadn't been performing at all this season. His general play was an awful lot better, so that's hope for the future. But it's still a long, long way away."
