John O’Shea was on Off The Ball for the Deadline Day Special and discussed Manchester United's chances in the highly competitive Premier League this year.
O’Shea also thought that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has what it takes to succeed in a club where so many have failed but that he would need time and the support of the club to do so.
“I think he does but he’ll also need the backing of the club to say look, it’s going to take time. If the club give that back, I’m sure he’ll succeed.”
Winning the league doesn’t appear to be on the cards for the club due to the strong opposition they are facing in local rivals Manchester City and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool as well as Pochettino’s strong Spurs side.
"Obviously, Man City and Liverpool showed the consistency, the points total that they got to and the squads that they have. I think Tottenham also if they can get one or two additions in, that’s going to be the front three."
O’Shea believes that the club are in the running for that fourth place finish this season.
“I think Manchester United can get into that top four, I think they have enough quality to get in there, to just sneak into that top four place.”
