Man City send Ireland youth goalkeeper out on loan

Manchester City have loaned out Ireland U21 goalkeeper Ian Lawlor to League One side Bury.

The 21-year-old will joins the club until the end of the season.

Last month, the 6-foot-4 shot-stopper joined League Two Barnet on an emergency loan deal, making five appearances.

Lawlor, who joined City from Dublin's Home Farm in 2010, has been called up to Ireland's senior squad before, sitting on the bench for 2014 summer friendly matches against Portugal and Costa Rica.

He is the second highly-rated Irishman that Man City have loaned out this season to gain experience, with fellow Ireland U21 midfielder Jack Byrne at Dutch club SC Cambuur.

Byrne recently spoke to Off The Ball about how he is settling in to a new football culture, stating that: "Holland is completely different to anything I was used to but I'm playing big games and I'm playing in front of sell-out crowds and its great. You have to take that challenge on."
