Liverpool miss chance to go seven clear

Liverpool had the chance to go seven points clear at the top of the Premier League tonight.

The door had creaked open after Manchester City's surprise defeat to Newcastle United on Tuesday night. But that opportunity slipped away as Leicester City held them to a 1-1 draw at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp's side had an almost perfect start as Sadio Mane converted after just three minutes.

But Leicester pegged them back in first half stoppage time with Harry Maguire finishing from close range.

The point gained at least lifts Liverpool five points clear at the top. But there's a sense of what might have been. That being said, Leicester have now taken points off - or beaten - Chelsea, Man City and now Liverpool.

Chelsea humiliation

Elsewhere the pressure is piling on Maurizio Sarri as Chelsea suffered a 4-0 humiliation at Bournemouth.

Josh King scored twice for the Cherries, while David Brooks and Josh Daniels netted the other two.

The result leaves the Blues outside the Top 4 on goal difference as Arsenal climb above them.

Tottenham continued their push to stay in the Top 3 after coming from behind against Watford.

Two goals in the last 10 minutes at Wembley from Son Heung-Min and Fernando Llorente cancelled out Craig Cathcart's opener.

The fourth game of the night saw Southampton and Crystal Palace play out a 1-1 draw at St Mary's.
