Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed today that three first-team players are self-isolating after they may have begun showing signs of the coronavirus.

The news was confirmed during a press conference today and Rodgers did not reveal the identity of the three players.

He said that for now they are being kept away from the rest of the squad and that the club has "followed procedures."

The players have not yet been diagnosed with Covid-19 as it was deemed that their symptoms had not yet reached the threshold to be tested for the virus.

"We've had a few players that have shown symptoms and signs [of coronavirus]. We’ve followed procedures and they have been kept away from the squad," Rodgers said.

The Foxes are due to face Watford at Vicarage Road in the Premier League this weekend, however, a decision hasn't been made yet about whether the game will be postponed or played behind closed doors.

"It would be a shame [if the Watford game were postponed], but the public's health is the most important in all of this."

"The game is all about the players and the fans and if you have one of those not there, it's obviously not the same," said Rodgers.

"Working in football, it’s about having that agility to move with what’s happening in football.

"We’re guided by football and federations. We have to press on with our work and prepare as normal," the former Celtic and Liverpool manager said.

Closer to home, The GAA have this afternoon called a complete halt to action amid the uncertain spread of coronavirus in Ireland.

The FAI is also meeting with the government and the Department of Health later today.

"[We] will make an announcement on plans for all footballing activities under its jurisdiction after a meeting with Government, Department of Health officials and other national sporting bodies this afternoon," the FAI said on Twitter.
