Klopp: We cannot force Mohamed Salah to stay

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has played down the rumors of a Mohamed Salah Anfield exit.

There has been a lot of speculation this week regarding the future of Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah.

The 28-year-old has been linked with moves to La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The rumors began to circulate after Salah refused to rule out a move to Spain in an interview with Spanish outlet AS.

Now, manager Jurgen Klopp has had to deal with the speculation before their side welcomes West Brom in the Premier League.

Not buying Salah rumors

"We could all look for something else if we want," Klopp said in his pre-game interview.

"But I think the only reason to leave Liverpool at the moment is the weather."

Salah is the current Premier League top scorer. Klopp reckons there's a lot to keep him at Anfield.

"We pay good and we have a sensational stadium with outstanding supporters and we have a fan base all around the world."

"You cannot force people to stay, but that is it. It is all about timing, the right moment, stuff like this."

Klopp has a rather down to earth point of view on the subject. Ultimately, the players can call the shots if they want out.

"We make changes and bring players in and if a player wants to go, we cannot hold them back. It is just I wouldn't understand why they would want to go."

Top of the table

The Liverpool boss has had a lot of adversity to deal with in recent weeks. Injury problems have been at the top of the pile for the manager.

"Being top of the league is nice, it's the best position to be in, but now really it's nothing we think about at the moment."

"We've had an incredible amount of injuries... it's always looking to the medical department with two eyes and you just want to know if anything happened."

A portion of Liverpool's early success has been down to their squad depth and ability to bring through younger talent.

"So far it worked out kind of, we gave a lot of opportunities to young players, which they used in an incredible manner and I'm really happy with that."

Liverpool face West Brom today at Anfield from half-four. We'll have commentary live for the game on our website.
