'Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool must win more' - Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane

Liverpool must win more trophies moving forward, according to Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher.

Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane discussed Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool's lack of trophies on Sky ahead of the Manchester City game.

Jurgen Klopp broke the Premier League glass ceiling for Liverpool.

It took him a few years, he had to rebuild a squad that was relying on the likes of Alberto Moreno and Mamadou Sakho when he arrived. Klopp has gradually rebuilt different areas of the team, replacing the likes of Phillippe Coutinho with Mohamed Salah and Joe Allen with Fabinho.

The elevated quality of the first eleven has been evident for a long time now. Liverpool won the Champions League before they won the Premier League, by then they had one of the best teams in Europe.

But Manchester City have always had the edge on them because of the depth in their squad. Liverpool haven't been able to compete on every front until this season. And now this season they're on course for a quadruple season. The League Cup is already in the bag. The Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup are still alive.

Jamie Carragher outlines where Liverpool have fallen short in recent seasons.

"This Liverpool team haven't actually won enough," Carragher said.

"For how good of a team they are, this is one of the best teams we've seen in the Premier League and they haven't won enough. And that wasn't in terms that they have to win another Premier League or Champions League. It was actually picking up domestic cups as well."

Roy Keane agreed with Carragher. But Keane actually showed greater nuance in understanding why Liverpool hadn't won. Keane outlined why Jurgen Klopp needed more time to build Liverpool up into what they are now. Liverpool previously abandoned the League Cup. They didn't this season.

And that's set them up for the quadruple, but they need to take advantage over the next two years while the team is at its peak.

"I think over the last few years we've always said that Liverpool's squad is not as strong as Man City's," Keane said.

"That's maybe why they made sacrifices by not competing for domestic cups. Obviously the priority for Klopp when he came in was to win the league. Now you look over the last 12-18 months, getting lads back from injuries and recruitment, Liverpool's squad is much stronger now so they won't be given the benefit of the doubt.

"Whatever about them stats, it is about getting medals. And Liverpool over the next 12 months have to get over the line in these big games. And get some more trophies and medals in their hands.

"Otherwise you'll be looking at them saying they didn't achieve enough."
