Joey Barton is unsure if he's still a Rangers player after meeting with manager

To say that Joey Barton's time in Scotland has not exactly gone to plan is a bit of an understatement, and after Rangers slumped to a 5-1 defeat against Celtic, he wasn't about to hold back in discussions with his team-mates.

That hasn't won him too many fans at the club however, and after a frank exchange of views on the training ground, Barton was told to stay away and take some time to think about what he said.

The former Manchester City and QPR player attempted to apologise on Twitter, but ended up saying that he wouldn't be saying sorry for "caring deeply about winning and for wanting to perform better myself and for Rangers to do much better."

He then made things even better by doubling down on his non-apology in an interview with Jim White on Talksport, stating: "Obviously sometimes the way I communicate can be a bit blunt, a bit direct, and it ruffles people’s feathers, which I know I have to work at, but I don’t apologise for trying to win."

When he finally returned to the club on Monday after taking the time out that had been recommended/enforced, he didn't seem all that sure that he was still a player at the club.

Speaking to reporters on his way out of a meeting with manager Mark Warburton, Barton was asked how it went, and stated that he was unable to comment on that matter. However, when asked if he was still a Rangers player, he responded "I think so," without a huge amount of confidence.
