Stephen Kenny names his Ireland starting XI for England clash

Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny has named his starting line-up for his side's clash with England this evening at Wembley Stadium.

Kenny is still in search of his first win as an international manager, having taken over the position of manager of the Irish side

The retirement of David McGoldrick after Ireland's failed attempt to qualify for Euro 2020 has opened the door for James Colins, who was named in Kenny's wider squad last week.

The team is also suffering from the loss of key strikers, including Aaron Connolly and Callum Robinson for their upcoming international matches against England, Wales and Bulgaria.

Connolly and defender Enda Stevens have pulled out of the squad through injury whilst Robinson has left camp after his positive COVID-19 test.

Striker Sean Maguire has come into the squad, with Swansea City midfielder Ryan Manning expected to link up with the squad after tonight's match.

Seamus Coleman and Matt Doherty looked set to start alongside one another for the first time, after Coleman watched Doherty start in the first three matches under Kenny.

Regular Republic of Ireland captain, Coleman, was ruled out of the clash due to a hamstring injury, though, allowing Shane Duffy to continue as captain.

The Ireland starting line-up

Here is how Ireland will line up against England this evening:

Darren Randolph maintains his place as the first choice goalkeeper under Kenny, as he has started in all of Kenny's teams to date.

The back four consists of Doherty, captain Duffy, Sheffield United's John Egan and Nottingham Forest's Cyrus Christie.

Newcastle United's Jeff Hendrick will line up next to Alan Browne from Preston North End, and Aston Villa's Conor Hourihane.

The front three complete the side, with Callum O'Dowda, Adam Idah and Daryl Horgan leading the attack in search for goals.

England's starting XI:

Pope, James, Keane, Maguire, Mings, Saka, Winks, Mount, Sancho, Grealish, Calvert-Lewin
Substitutes: D Henderson, Pickford, Rice, Abraham, Maitland-Niles, Bellingham, Foden, Dier, Kane, Chilwell, J Henderson

Ireland will take on England in Wembley stadium at 8pm, airing live on RTÉ 2.
