"He'll decide for himself" - Martin O'Neill hoping Roy Keane stays on for another two years

Martin O'Neill hopes that Roy Keane will stay on as assistant manager after the European Championships, following their defeat to France in Lyon yesterday.

Speaking to the press today before heading for the airport, O'Neill was in reflective mood and said he is looking forward to continuing working with the FAI as well as with the team.

"I think my contract officially ended about a minute and a half after the result, so that was when we were out," he told reporters.

"I don’t see that being an issue now. I think I’ve agreed with John [Delaney]…and I’d be happy to continue on if he’s still feeling that way."

When asked whether Keane would be joining him in signing a new deal, he said: "I think he'll decide for himself, but absolutely [we will continue working together]. I think he’s been great for the team and I think he’s been great for everyone. I’ll sit down with him and if he feels he wants to stay with us that would be great."
