"France are delighted we're still in" - Davy Keogh says hello to Newstalk Breakfast

"Davy Keogh Says Hello". It's a flag that is seen all over the World as Ireland travel the continent and further afield as the Irish team travel far and wide.

The man behind the flag spoke to Newstalk Breakfast this morning, bleary eyed after only a few hours sleep after the historic win in Lille.

"We're going to have a meeting this morning", Keogh added, when asked about what his plans were for the knockout stages. "There's talks of a getting a camper-van or coming home and going back out... We're due to fly home at 6 o'clock today."

Keogh won't have any issues getting tickets for Sunday's game with France. He took the risk and booked tickets for Ireland's Second Round game if the team qualified. "We organised the tickets for the next round anyways. We were that confident of getting through".

Many of the Irish fans stayed behind in the Stade Pierre-Mauroy after the win to savour the atmosphere. Keogh admitted it was a late night for him along with many of the Irish fans.

"We were staying in Lens, which is about an hour's drive away. We lost a couple of lads on the way. We didnt leave the ground until 12:15. We hadn't even got a drink until 1:30. Everyone was rocking and rolling. We were stuck on a bus... It was one of the best journeys we ever had in our life."

"France are delighted we're still in", Keogh continued.  "The money we are spending over here is unbelievable. The fans are everywhere. I don't know where they're coming in from. They're just thousands of Irish here."

Ireland return to action on Sunday afternoon in Lyon. Keogh feels the win will bolster the confidence in the team. "The confidence there now has probably grown and grown. We got a clip of the (team) on the bus singing. You don't see that with other international teams. The comradeship in that team is unbelievable."
