Fantasy Tips: Should you jump on an Ilkay Gundogan bandwagon?

Due to injury, it's taken a while for Ilkay Gundogan to move from the fringes to the centre of the radar for Manchester City.

The summer signing from Borussia Dortmund is not only delivering in midfield but has also been among the goals already, with three goals in six games in the Premier League and two more in the Champions League.

However, his goalscoring record at Dortmund was relatively modest which makes him a risky bandwagon to jump on Fantasy Premier League terms.

At present, he is available for €5.6 million, which is already a rise from this time last week.

But is he the man to go to?

Team 33 Fantasy pundit Eoin Sheahan fielded that one this week as he discussed the merits of switching to a 3-5-2 formation in the coming gameweeks.

"He's now owned by 7.5% of the game. This is the big bandwagon of November," he said.

"Now, when you look at Gundogan, the narrative is that Pep has found how to get the best out of this player and that's a very exciting idea for any Fantasy football manager. They've got a €5.6m midfielder who's just scored two goals and got an assist against West Brom - and then scored another two goals against Barcelona midweek; that this guy is not only in unbelievable form but is being moulded by one of the greatest managers of all time. Before the Barcelona game I would have said 'nah, once De Bruyne's fit and ready to go for a full 90 minutes, he's going to automatically come back in and take Gundogan's place'. But they both played and both started against Barcelona which is a very encouraging start."

But Eoin also explained why he will wait a week after City face Middlesbrough before making a final decision on Gundogan.

We also talked Joe Allen as he sustains his form, as well as the importance of picking Marcos Alonso as one of two Chelsea options since Antonio Conte's tactical switch.
