Given his history, it's not a surprise that reports are emerging from Italy that AC Milan are making sure they clamp down on any potential Mario Balotelli trouble spots before they come to a head.
The Liverpool player is joining his former club on loan and Milan have reportedly borrowed clauses normally used in the Italian military.
The rules reportedly include no smoking, a ban on the extravagant haircuts he often favours and a limit on drinking and nightclub visits.
But at least he did not have to watch his weight. Back in his playing days, former Liverpool centre-back Neil 'Razor' Ruddock had issues with being able to stave off the pounds which had some consequences when he was at Crystal Palace between 2000 and 2001.
The Premier League hard-man, who spoke to Newstalk about his career earlier this year, had to forefeit 10 per cent of his wages every time he surpassed the recommended weight of 99.8kg.
Apparently, it was an idea proposed by his former West Ham manager Harry Redknapp as recounted by former Palace chairman Simon Jordan in Four Four Two magazine: "When we were signing players like Neil Ruddock, Harry Redknapp had told me we had to get him on a weight clause in his contract otherwise he would turn up overweight."
Unable to manage his weight accordingly, he ended up coughing up 10 per cent of his wages eight times in the space of a few months, before leaving for Swindon.
