Spurs fans applaud Arsenal's Bukayo Saka and display banner of support

In one of the more heartening moments of the last couple of months, Spurs fans applauded Arsenal and England forward Bukayo Saka onto the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Saka was the final England player to see a penalty saved by Italy's Gigi Donnarumma in the Euro 2020 final, and was greeted by a section of supporters sending racist messages on social media.

Thankfully, far more supporters did the opposite and went out of their way to support Saka in a moment of crisis at a young age.

That extended to Tottenham fans during a pre-season friendly where no away fans were allowed to attend.

Tottenham fans also displayed a banner which read 'North London stands with Bukayo Saka and all players against racism and discrimination'.

Meanwhile, reports emerged on Sunday that Spurs have agreed a fee for Internazionale striker Lautaro Martinez, in a move that would beat Arsenal to his signature.

The Times reports Daniel Levy and Director of Football Fabio Paratici have agreed a deal worth £60m, rising to a mooted £76.8m, and the thought is that Martinez would play alongside Harry Kane, rather than in his place.

Martinez, 23, has scored 49 goals in 132 games for Inter since joining from Argentinian side Racing Club three years and helped them to win the Scudetto last season.

Martinez will team up at Tottenham with his compatrior Cristian Romero, who signed for the club last week.

The Argentine centre-back signed a five-year contract with the Premier League club after leaving Atalanta.

Romero is Spurs' second signing of the summer from the Bergamo club, following the loan arrival of goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.

The 23-year old was part of the Argentina side that beat Brazil to win the Copa America last month.

Romero only joined Atalanta on a permanent €16m deal last summer, having spent the previous season on loan there from Juventus.
